The Northwest Conference puts high value on celebrating our students, programs and communities throughout the school year. From “Leaders in Sportsmanship,” to “Coaches vs. Cancer” and “Only 7 Seconds,” The Northwest Conference consistently goes above and beyond with outreach to every school and their corresponding communities.
Each school in the NWC will have the opportunity to highlight someone from their community as a “Person of Distinction.” This honor will celebrate someone associated with each athletic program and draw a spotlight on the amazing selfless people who help make this conference so special!

In the world of high school sports, the athletic training room is often seen as a place for recovery and rehabilitation. However, at Anacortes High School, Jourden Lamar has transformed it into something much more: the heart of the athletic department.
Since joining the Seahawks, Jourden has become a cornerstone of our championship culture. While his expertise in student-athlete care and treatment is exceptional, it is his dedication to the “person” behind the “player” that truly sets him apart.

Walk into the training room on any given afternoon, and you’ll find it buzzing with energy. Most students aren’t there for a literal ice pack or a wrap; they are there because Jourden has cultivated an inviting, inclusive, and protective environment. He has a rare gift for making every student feel seen and supported, ensuring that his office is a safe harbor for all.
